Coffee from Rinaldo's Speciality Coffee | Washed Process

Rinaldo's is a speciality coffee roaster and fine tea supplier, based near Kendal on the edge of the Lake District. Rin, the founder, was born in West Cumbria, and in April 2015 threw out a little plea to the world to help him part-fund a Giesen coffee roaster and get his business up and running. His Crowdfunding scheme was successful thanks to his many backers who became part of his venture.

Rin is committed to the highest-standards of production and only roasts 100% Arabica beans, sourcing all the green beans from individual farmers or small holdings. You can be assured of the provenance of the product - farmers and workers have excellent conditions and are paid a good wage.

The Washed Process method creates some of the world’s finest coffees with cleaner, fruitier tastes and higher acidity than other methods.

Washed coffee is produced by firstly pulping the coffee cherry to remove the outer layer of skin, before leaving the bean to ferment in water for one of two days. The mucilage is then washed from the bean once its aroma has been absorbed.
