Cast Iron Coffee Roasters - West Sussex

Getting roaster details...

The Cast Iron Coffee Roastery is hidden up a farm track in picturesque rural Sussex. Founded in 2014 by Guy Spurr who wanted a change of direction following a long corporate career, Cast Iron are a family business which had only been going for three months when they had their first big break! A chance encounter at the end of a Trade Fair resulted in Caffeine Magazine featuring Cast Iron’s Thunguri AA Kenyan filter coffee as their coffee of the month. Five judges picked Cast Iron unanimously from blind cuppings of coffees from the twenty best roasters in the UK.

Despite growing demand, Cast Iron still hand-roast in small batches allowing Guy to retain the creativity that drew him to roasting in the first place. He’s insistent that the quality of the South Downs air in the stunning countryside where the beans are roasted and handled can be tasted in the finished product.

Their roasting philosophy is very simple; showcase the bean in the best possible light and be as true as possible to its origins. They will only ever supply coffee they love to drink themselves, be that a rich chocolately espresso or a light fruity complex filter.
