The Blackburn Estate in Tanzania lies along the border of the Ngorongoro Crater, a wildlife and UNESCO World Heritage Site, and spans 455 hectares. The actual coffee farm only represents around 16% of the area, although new farms within the estate are being developed for micro-lots in the coming seasons.

Although owning such a large area, estate owners Michael and Tina Gehrken have generously set aside 80% of the estate's land for wildlife to inhabit and roam. As a result, lions, buffalo, and leopards can often be seen wandering through the coffee and forest areas of the farm at night.

The cherry from this lot was harvested from a part of the Blackburn Estate overshadowed by forest and between an altitude of 1,760 and 1,950 metres above sea level. The estate has its own wet milling facility which draws on water from the springs high up Mount Oldeani. All of the coffee is dried on raised screens before being transported for dry milling in Moshi.
