Dear Green Coffee: Colombia, Finca Buenos Aires - Geisha, Washed

In 2020 Dear Green were lucky enough to start working with Cata Exports, baristas who after working in the UK were inspired to move into the green coffee trade in their home country, Colombia. They say, “During these troubling times, a real sense of community has become evident in our industry giving us hope. As green coffee exporters we are eager to contribute by doing what we do best, connecting roasters around the world with some of the most outstanding coffees from Colombia”.

Cata Exports apply their expertise to find the best beans whilst matching western quality standards and building long term relationships between local farmers and international roasters . Working exclusively in Colombia Cata create genuine relationships with farmers (in vulnerable areas) who are new to the specialty coffee scene.

Through trading the best quality coffee by working in partnerships with producers on carefully selected micro, nano and pico lots Cata ensure their passion for Colombian coffee benefits the buyers whilst contributing to sustainable farming.

This coffee is by Marina Romero of Finca Buenos Aires. Marina has been working in coffee since she was a child. Today, Marina looks after the whole production at Finca Buenos Aires which is located in Timana in the Huila region at 1,800 meters above sea level.

The Geisha variety needs no introduction! Typically delicate in style this coffee offers delicious lemon notes with a light Oolong tea like body and intense natural sugar cane sweetness.
