As Central American coffee comes into season, we're pleased to announce the return of La Esperanza, from the Heheutenango region of Guatemala. We enjoyed this coffee so much last year as part of our singles range that we decided to bring it back again in 2016, relishing the opportunity to work once more with our friend Marta Dalton at Coffee Bird.

We particularly love being able to revisit the origin story of this bean, which goes back over 50 years to when farmer Don Eleodoro would travel for days by foot to acquire coffee cherries and then travel back to sell it to a mill. Realising the business potential, he purchased his first farm in 1953 and things have continued to grow and expand ever since. Now in his 90's, Eleodoro is cared for by his son Aurelio, who also looks after the farm and manages the family business. Over the past few years, Eleodoro and Aurelio's coffees have regularly placed in the top ten of the Cup of Excellence.

As well as the high quality of the cup and complex flavour profile, we're happy to support a farm that has continued to thrive and develop across generations.
