Horsham Coffee Roaster - Colombia Sugarcane Decaf

Sorry - Sold out - it's been popular!

Getting product details...

Dried fruit and floral aromas with flavours of toffee, nuts, rum and raisin balanced by a sparkling acidity

This special decaf lot comes from various farms in Suaza located in the Huila region of Colombia.

From Horsham Coffee Roaster:

Most decaf coffee is processed after import which significantly increases the food miles. This lot however was carefully selected at origin to be decaffeinated at a plant in Colombia. The method used is called ‘Sugarcane’ or E.A. Firstly, molasses derived from sugarcane grown in Colombia is fermented to create ethanol. This alcohol is then mixed with acetic acid (found in vinegar) creating a natural ethyl acetate commonly found in wine. This is then dissolved with water and used as a solvent to remove the caffeine from the green beans. It’s a very effective low heat, low pressure method and helps to retain great flavour characteristics. Any remaining alcohol is evaporated during the roasting process.

This is without a doubt the best decaf we've come across and this fresh crop is tasting better than ever! On our cupping table this lot always scores really highly and has a complexity you rarely find in the majority of decaffienated coffees.
