In the cup, expect red grapefruit, tropical fruits & a lovely syrupy raisin-like body.
Kayanza is one of Burundi’s most reputable growing regions with a history of great coffee. The Coffee farms lie in the highlands, where soils are rich and volcanic. These optimal growing conditions combined with the skills of an exceptionally dedicated washing station manager - Gratien Nankwahombaye result in the delicious coffees coming from the region and in particular the Gakenke mill.

Overseen by Greenco - a leading coffee producing company that supports and develops farmers and mill managers, Gakenke has about 3000 registered farmer members. These are organized in groups of 30 people, headed by a farm leader to facilitate communication and organization. The farmers typically have an average of 300 trees. At the washing station, farmers can get organic fertilizer from reconverted coffee pulp as well as subsidized baby coffee trees, as each washing station has its own nursery.
