Climpson and Sons believe Decaf should never just be an afterthought and this coffee was selected first and foremost for its quality of flavour and sustainable approach to processing. A classic washed coffee produced by smallholder growers these beans are decaffeinated in -country before export by using local cane sugar to create the Ethyl Acetate required for the process. This saves unnecessary food miles as well as creating a great tasting coffee!

From Climpson & Sons:

Our new decaf is from La Plata in Colombia.

Decaf shouldn't be an afterthought and this coffee was selected first for its quality of flavour and sustainable approach to processing.

This particular lot is the work of a number of smallholder growers from the area of La Plata within the department of Huila. As with all specialty coffee the cherry is picked and meticulously sorted before depulping and undergoing a classic washed process.

As part of a program initiated by Cafe Imports the next step in decaffeinating is breaking from industry norms (and unnecessary food-miles) with decaf processing occuring in-country before export. Using local natural sugar cane to create Ethyl Acetate, the coffee is soaked in a E.A solution to remove caffeine.
