Horsham Coffee Roaster: Ethiopia, Banco Gotete, Natural

Ethiopia produces some incredible coffee with very distinct flavour characteristics. It is almost impossible to find the wild and fruity flavour profile of an Ethiopian natural processed coffee anywhere else in the world! This is our first Ethiopian natural from the 2019 harvest and it is a stunning example of juicy fruit complexity.

The coffee is grown on small hold farms at high altitude, around 2000m above sea level. Farmers in Ethiopia tend to have less than a hectare of land and will grow coffee among other subsistence crops like mango and avocado. Coffee is hand harvested and delivered to the washing station for processing. In this case only fully ripe cherry has been laid out to dry on raised beds and turned regularly to ensure even drying. The combination of unique tree types, very high altitude, soil type, careful harvesting and processing results in incredible flavours in the final product.
