From Horsham Coffee Roaster:
Serra Negra is a farm located in the Minas Gerais region of Brazil and is owned by Pedro and Winefrida Rossi. The average altitude of the farm is 1100-1200 masl and this particular lot comes from the Mundo Novo tree varietal. The closest major town is Patrocinio and on google maps you can see the outline of the extinct volcano to the south east.
This year we have two outstanding lots from this area of Brazil (The other is our seasonal selection for Benchmark) and both have been sourced for us by our friends at De Luca coffee. They are a small business that specializes in importing outstanding Brazilian coffees from their friends farms. Both lots are exclusive to us in Europe.
The best coffees from Brazil are known for their nutty, full body character and this is no exception. The nutty flavour can best be described as almond and the honey like sweetness brings to mind almond nougat. This is a great coffee with milk and makes an outstandingly well balanced espresso.
