Dear Green Coffee - Kenya - Gakayuini - Peaberry - Washed And Sun-Dried

Situated on the Southern side of the famous Mt. Kenya, the Thirikwa Coffee Farmers' Cooperative Society first planted their trees in 1953, and the Gukayu-ini factory where these beans are processed is the only wet milling station within the cooperative. It is estimated that around 60% of Kenya's coffee is produced on cooperative farms, with the best crops grown on farms around the Southern slopes of Mt. Kenya at altitudes of 1,800 metres above sea level.

The hybrid varietals SL28 and SL34 are known for developing a zingy acidity which when coupled with the volcanic soil and shade of the mountain side, creates a bright cup with a rich, slick mouthfeel when brewed. This particular crop from Gakayuini is currently our favourite among the staff here at Dear Green for that very reason.
