Last year Climpson & Sons had the opportunity to travel to Colombia in search of great coffee from the region of Cauca. It was the first official Climpson's origin trip that took us on a two week trip of epic proportions, with the first stop being the Cauca Best Cup Competition and Auction in Popayan, Colombia. For us it was a great opportunity to understand the subtleties of the Cauca region, meet the producers, as well as lay claim to our favourite coffees to bring back to the roastery.
At the auction, we were ecstatic with our bid on the number 8 winning micro-lot bringing home with us an exceptional coffee, Benito Rosero from Finca El Pino in El Tambo.

Benito Rosero's winning coffee holds the traditional cup profile of Cauca coffees. Its proximity to the equator and the regions stable seasons and terroir makes for a high acidity, medium body and caramel like profile. Rosero's coffee is very complex, holding delicate floral notes with a sweet citric aftertaste. Flavours of cane sugar, rose and poached pear are clear with subtleties of lime, jasmine and honey coming through.
