From Clifton Coffee:

One of the outstanding (and very small!) lots from our El Salvador offerings this year and back for a 2nd year running from the Chaltenango region situated north of San Salvador comes the fabulous Pena Redonda.

Finca Pena Redonda is a small 2.5 hectare farm owned by Jose Maria Lemus, a farmer of exceptional quality coffee who utilises all three key processing methods for his small crop meaning he produces very small amounts of coffee each year. The region of Chalatenango located just to the north east of the capital San Salvador is far less well known as a growing region compared to the likes of the famed Santa Ana and Cordillera Tecapa Chinameca regions. Chalatenango benefits from a cooler climate than Santa Ana which lends itself well towards the growing & production of the pacamara varietal.

Most of the producers in Chalatenango (as with much of El Savladorian producers) don't own their own mills and it can be a difficult area to access and get coffee out of.
