From Artisan Roast:

An exclusive speciality micro-lot from artisan roast!

Coffee farms in Colombia are small operations, family orientated and usually only one or two hectares in size. In the past, neighbouring farms pooled their harvests into larger bulked lots - the coffees were still great and were the building blocks of Colombia's reputation for delicious, consistent coffee, yet the farmers missed out on recognition. Because producers also typically process their own coffee it meant the coffee world also missed out on truly unique and delicious flavour distinctions resulting from variations in terroir and post harvest processing techniques.Artisan Roast are working with our export partner in Colombia to give these small farmers more visibility and recognition for their coffee. Our latest coffee in this venture of recognition comes from Ana Milena Claros' farm Vista Hermosa.  Ana's farm, just to the north of Huila's main city Pitalito, is run in partnership with her husband and family.  With high altitude, continued use of the traditional cultivar Caturra, and support from technical managers in the area to manage longer fermentation times, this coffee shows what Huila coffees can be.

The roast has been kept light to showcase the complexity of flavour profile and refinement in Ana's coffee. Sweet raisin, apple and orange citrus notes combine with flavours of roasted hazelnut and milk chocolate.  Subtle further characteristics of plum and cinnamon are noticeable in low intensity depending on brew method as well. The acidity is structured, complex and enhances the orange citrus characteristic while a complementary high level of sweetness keeps the overall taste profile in perfect balance.
