From Heart & Graft Coffee Roastery:

We feel like this coffee is part of our DNA here at H&G. It's one of the most characterful and distinctive coffees we've ever had and is consistently so damn tasty! It's also the coffee we've had people beating our door to get back in...I was kinda chased at Cup North with people holding cups out saying "We've heard Miriam's back"...

Miriam and her husband Rodolfo were two of the founders of the extraordinary COMSA coop, and working in harmony with the land and nature is a philosophy that they live and breathe on a daily basis. Which isn't just a worthy idea, which if everyone did would save the planet, it also produces some awesome coffees. I only spent an afternoon on the farm, but it felt so like home, the land almost felt healed. Which I know sounds weird but it just did!

We had around 30 samples to cup from COMSA this year, and we always cup blind so theirs no emotional bias, so we were delighted when Miriam's coffee was again in our top 3!

It's a complete joy as a filter, rich honey sweetness with apricot aromas drifting up from the cup. Such an easy coffee to enjoy with all that character that Miriam produces in her natural process coffees.

But for us, its as an espresso where its just another level. Boozy, sweet and a fruit notes that is somehow both deep and light. Apricot jam, and that on the nose taste note of rum and raisin. It's magnificent through milk. When Ashleigh made herself a flatwhite with it in the shop, she took a sip and looked down at it and said "I thought that rum and raisin was one of those things you say...but it really does taste like that!"

We love it. Thanks Miriam!

Flavour notes:

for aeropress: so so clean. Jasmine tea like, peach, sweet and sugary and complex.

for espresso: vanilla, cream soda, sugary lemon. Initially bright but then immediately balances with a sugary body and a long peach and chocolate finish. When drunk through milk, it tastes like lemon meringue pie!
