From F & E Coffee:

Established in 1932 by Gustavo Vides Valdes who named the farm for his new daughter, Lya, (Bosque Lya translates as Lya's Forest) Finca Bosque Lya is renowned for its beauty; Situated on the foothills of Santa Ana Volcano, it is a 96 hectare farm, of which 64 is coffee, the rest being natural rainforest.

Coffee is mostly shade grown, meaning that it's hard to tell where the rainforest ends, and the coffee starts! The farm is covered in wildlife: hummingbirds, hawks, armadillos, possums and even rare species of orchid are all prevalent on the estate.

The farm sits between 1,473 and 1,650 metres above sea level, and they grow almost entirely bourbon (mostly red), though there is a small amount of typica, caturra and pacamara. This, combined with its volcanic soil makes a sweet and complex coffee
