From Rinaldo's Coffee:

No one knows for sure exactly when coffee first reached Honduras, but it is believed that seeds may have arrived from Costa Rica between 1799 and 1804 amongst the goods brought by travelling merchants. Today, coffee plays an important role within the national economy and has great potential for growth and quality improvement.

Marco Ramirez was born in 1970 and since he was a little boy he harvested coffee in small plots that his father had near his house. In 1989 he graduated and obtained his diploma as an Elementary Teacher. Since then he has been a teacher and has held positions as councillor and municipal mayor in the area of San Sebastián, Lempira.

He has been planting Catuaí variety coffee bushes since 1998. He continues to improve his facilities and can now do all the processing on-site. He is a Rainforest Alliance certified producer and currently in process of getting the UTZ and Organic certifications this year.
