From Clifton Coffee Roasters:

Finca Rumania was first planted in 1940, and was inherited by Rosa Mena de Lima from her father Alfredo Mena Lagos. The farm is situated near to the Ilmatepec Volcano, in an area most farmers have replanted with Anacafe 14, a cross between Catimor and Pacamara that offers huge yields and strong rust resitance. While the cup quality of this variety can be good, traditional Bourbon still performs well in the environment and delviers the cup quality the variety is known for.

When the Ilmatepec Volcano erupted in 2006 the farm was covered with volcanic ash which has naturally enriched the soil and acted as a fertilizer. The farm is managed organically and has a wide variety of native shade trees contributing to its Organic and RFA status and it’s certification from the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Centre.
