From Horsham Coffee Roaster:

Ethiopia produces some of the best coffees in the world. They are well know for fruity and distinctive washed and natural process coffees. The majority of coffee produced in Ethiopia comes from small hold farmers linked to a local washing station. These farmers will usually grown a range of crops on their land that include food based crops for their own consumption and crops like coffee that will provide a cash income.

Ambela washing station is located in the Sidamo region in the Binitu Ambela district. The washing station is large, providing an income for around 6000 local coffee farmers. The harvest take place from November and ripe cherry is hand harvested and delivered to the washing station for processing. Coffee is pulped and fermented for an extended period of time, 36-48 hrs. After fermentation the coffee is graded and washed before drying on raised beds.

This is our first Ethiopian coffee of the 2018-19 season. We selected this from a wide range of samples as it really stood out on the cupping table and was one of the highest scoring coffees. You can expect lovely jammy fruit notes and hibiscus like floral tones. It's also incredibly well balanced and works very well both as filter and a light roast espresso.
